​​INSPIRATION

I grew up with my grandparents in an old house on Ma May street, Hanoi. Old photos from wartime, dark photos filled with moss, the scent of incense wafting through holidays - all paint a familiar, ancient, timeless Hanoi. A slow-living Hanoi, carrying within it thousands of years of literature.

But I also grew up and witnessed a bustling Hanoi, when ancient buildings were surrounded by new urban areas and high-rise buildings. The noisy narrow alleys of the market now stand on par with silent apartment halls. People live fast, live in a hurry, becoming city parasites in the office.

As a child of Hanoi, I feel lucky to feel the familiarity of ancient yet modern Hanoi. Find a small alley after a day of wandering among modern buildings. “Progressive Hanoi” paints a picture of contrast and harmony between the traditional and modern features of Hanoi, between the nostalgia of history and the hope for the future.

I hope that through this set of photos, we can look back at the lifestyle and culture of ancient Hanoi people, to continue to apply them in conjunction with today's rapid development to create a city of sustainable development. Sustainable, modern, and environmentally friendly. Instead of releasing a series of temporary environmental protection projects without sustainable development, each person in Hanoi just needs to slow down a bit, gradually change small habits and raise awareness about environmental protection environment will create a modern, civilized and fresh city
